Seepapitso Senior Secondary School (SSSS) Class of 86 that goes by the mantra ‘Pioneers of Change’ have embarked on a drive to build a Wall of Fame at the school.
Speaking at the Wall of Fame groundbreaking ceremony performed by Kgosi Malope II at the school recently, a representative of SSS class of 86 Mr Tshepiso Motsilanyane said the project was initiated with the aim of helping the school.
Mr Motsilanyane, who is a plant maintenance analyst at Jwaneng mine, said the school got position three during the 1986 Cambridge School Leaving Examinations because of the crop of students at the time.
He said they have set timelines in executing the project that would in the long run benefit the school community.
He said the Wall of Fame would give the school a facelift and improve academic performance as well as shaping the morality of students.
He said the project would enlist students, teachers and school heads, a move he said would inject the spirit of excellence in the school.
Mr Motsilanyane said funds were available for the construction of the state-of-the art facility and by September 30, they would collect residual funds to expedite the delivery of the project.
He noted that the plan of the structure has been approved by appropriate authorities, and that if all goes according to plan, the project would be handed over in January next year.
“The building will without doubt leave a long lasting impression and legacy to the school community,” he said.
For his part, Kanye Administrative Authority (KAA) chairperson, Mr Tlhomamo Dibeela hailed the gesture.
He urged other former classes to collaborate to achieve more in terms of infrastructural development within the school as well as enhancing academic performance.
He said if it was not for budgetary constraints the team would build classrooms. ENDS
