Pilane Cashbuild has donated P96 000 to different schools in Kgatleng District as a way of giving back to the community.
Speaking at the official opening of Cashbuild store at Pilane on Thursday September 22, the manager Ms Dee Kgomo said each school would receive P12 000 worth of building materials.
She said they selected Raditladi, Our Lady of the Carmel, Oodi, Thaakgame, Linchwe, Rasesa and Ramogotsi primary schools.
Ms Kgomo also awarded students who performed well on the Art-at-Heart competition, which aimed at developing deserving schools.
She noted that the students who took part in the drawing competition were expected to draw building materials found in any Cash Build store.
She said they involved 24 primary schools and only eight were selected. Out of the eight, the three best students from each school were chosen and they received gifts for their achievements.
Tshepo Dingongorego from Raditladi primary school was picked as the best overall and was given the Managers Choice Award. The boy was given a chance to officially open the store.
Ms Kgomo said the whole initiative was to give back to the community and to uplift the lives of people.
For her part, the principal education officer, Ms Tebogo Mosothwane said what Cashbuild has done was delightful as they were investing in the leaders of tomorrow.
She said they had chosen few students from each school who did well in the competition adding that this would motivate other students to work harder.
She said the ministry was interested in partnering with stakeholders as a way of assisting and mentoring students noting that they are now partners of Cashbuild as they have shown that they care for the future of the students.
Ms Mosothwane applauded Cashbuild for their gesture noting that their help came at the right time where their ministry faced financial challenges. ENDS
