BTCL renovates day care centre
25 Sep 2016
Botswana Telecommunication Corporation Limited (BTCL) Foundation recently renovated Thari ya Ngwana Day care centre in Manyana and planted a tree.
The Foundation members including Kgosi Kebinatswene Mosielele painted the Day Care centre buildings and planted a tree.
The chairperson of the Foundation, Justice Michael Mothobi says BTCL is giving back to the community and said shares by BTCL will give every Motswana an opportunity to be a shareholder in the corporation.
Justice Mothobi said the corporation was committed to ensuring a conducive and learning environment to all students by renovating structures.
He said they renovated the centre because children were future leaders who needed to be taught at grassroots level in a good environment.
Judge Mothobi said Batswana should continue buying shares as they had a stake in the running of BTCL and their involvement turned BTCL into a profitable company, a prosperous company and they could only have this happening if Batswana came on board.
Acting BTCL managing director Mr Pilot Yane encouraged Batswana to support BTCL because it belonged to Batswana.
He said they were assisting the community country wide through community participation in developments.
Earlier on, Kgosi Mosielele indicated that the centre had many challenges as it relied on Village Development Committee to buy food for the children and pay teachers' salaries. BOPA
