Trinity celebrates 50 years

22 Sep 2016

Reverend Mompati Aaron says the Trinity Congregational church will be celebrating 50 years on November 6, 2016 as a unity church under the theme Ebenezer, Am I still in the first love? 1 Sam7:12&2:1-5.

Speaking during a media brief on September 21 at Trinity hall, Reverend Aaron said Trinity Congregational Church will be celebrating the contribution of those who came before them and to thank God for bringing the Trinity Church and Congregation together. He also said the celebrations will reflect on the role the church has played from 1966 to date.

Reverend Aaron further explained that Trinity Church was formed as a unity church whose facilities were shared by different denominations such as London Missionary Society, Anglican and Society of Friends but by the mid 1970S, the Anglicans and the Methodists built their own churches and the Trinity Church was left to be used by the Congregational church alone.

He added that the Trinity Church has played a major role in nurturing and saving souls as Gaborone’s pioneer unity church.

For his part Mr Mothusi Ramaabya the chairperson of the organising committee said the church had planned upcoming key activities such as; Down Memory Lane History Night on October 7, 2016 and Community social responsibility on 16, 2016 where  members will volunteer 50 minutes of their time for community involvement at various places such as hospitals, children’s homes and other worthy causes.
