BOT50 funds should be used wisely

22 Sep 2016

Mogoditshane  BOT50 organising committee has been urged to use the money allocated for the independence prepations wisely.

Addressing dikgosi at Mogoditshane kgotla recently Suprintendant  Moseki Emang said dikgosi  and the organising team for BOT50 should be careful when using this money to avoid situations where they could be blamed for misusing government money.

“ We are citizens of Botswana and Mogoditshane village, therefore the services that we offer whether entertainment or catering should be free,” she said.

Suprintendant Emang said  Mogoditshane is a big village and therefore people should take into consideration that the P 200 000 for preparations is to be split between independence celebrations and the roving torch which will arrive in the village on September 23.

Therefore, she noted that this money will not be enough to cover all the expenses.

“ If there is change after the celebrations, then participants would  be thanked  but for now money should be the last thing in our minds,” she said.

Another speaker, Ms Elizabeth Kenosi suggested that they should get school children around the village to participate in activities of the celebration as a way to cut  other uncessary expenses. She urged the citizens to gather their choirs, traditional dancers and other talented people around the village. Meanwhile, she raised a complaint that Mogoditshane dam should be cleaned. Ends
