Steer clear of corruption - Dibeela
22 Sep 2016
Kanye Administrative Authority (KAA) chairperson, Mr Tlhomamo Dibeela has urged accounting officers in government and parastatals to take charge in the fight against corruption.
He said this during a corruption prevention workshop aimed at familiarising members with the trends of corruption and equipping them with the requisite skills to fight the vice at their workplace.
The chairperon also advised employees to live within their means, and to avoid being trapped in the snares of corruption.
He noted that corruption started with an insatiable appetite to have things which one could not ordinarily have.
The anti-corruption trainer, Mr Trickey Mosedame encouraged all Batswana to report incidents of corruption without fear or favour, adding that it affected everyone in one way or the other.
He warned that turning a blind eye to corruption would spell doom for future generations.
Mr Mosedame urged accounting officers to close gaps that could encourage corruption in their day-to-day operations in order to keep it at bay.
He said loopholes in operation systems tempted officers to spot opportunities for corruption.
The trainer advised organisations to create corruption prevention committees in order to spearhead anti-corruption strategies and measures.
He said the primary role of the committee was to ensure that operations and procedures were not conducive to corruption.
He also urged corruption prevention committees to design, implement and monitor corruption prevention plans for their respective organisations without fail. Ends
