The Department of Buildings and Engineering Services (DBES) staff members in Bobonong have donated toiletries to three residents of Gobojango recently.
Speaking during the handing over of the items, DBES chief technical assistant, Mr Papa Maruatona said since the roll out of community service activities, the department has donated to a number of villages namely Tshokwe, Moletemane, Tsetsejwe, Sefophe and Damuchojena to show compassion.
Mr Maruatona said they also intend donating to other villages such as Mmadinare to plough back to the community.
The three recipients, Ms Malebogo Disang, Ms Malebogo Dikgang and Ms Sewela Mmolawa each received rolls of toilet paper, vaseline, 2kg sunlight washing powder, bars of sunlight soap, toothpaste, roll-on, face cloth and P50 in cash.
Earlier, Kgosi Keabetswe Mokgethi of Gobojango commended DBES for the gesture of giving back to the community.
He said their department was doing what was in line with the national vision pillar of a compassionate, just and caring nation. In addition, Kgosi Mokgethi requested residents to pray for rain as the ploughing season approaches.
Kgosi Mokgethi said the leadership has chosen Wednesday of every week as a day to pray for rain. He implored residents to take part in the preparations for the 50 years of independence celebrations.
Giving a word of encouragement, Reverend Constance Konyana from Pastors Association in Bobonong said no one was deprived in the kingdom of God.
She said the recipients should take solace in that before the eyes of God they were rich and that only the dead were poor. Reverend Konyana said only God was the refuge and that everyone should look unto him.
She also encouraged Gobojango residents to visit the hospital and test for HIV as most people were dying because of the virus despite that programmes were available to assist those infected. Ends
