Donald Molosi, Botswana's classically trained actor, is to hold a show themed: “Tea with SSK” (Sir Seretse Khama) the founding President of Botswana, which will be held at Cresta President Hotel on September 21.

At the event, Molosi, who is the first actor to portray Sir Seretse Khama in a professional production after he debuted on Broadway in 2008, will mark 50 years of Botswana’s independence and that of Cresta President Hotel.

While highlighting some of his contributions, which he included blue, black and white, his participation in Hollywood films in the United Kingdom, which he describes as “proudly made for the love of my country,” Molosi said he wanted to be part of the big team which was offering the story to Batswana thus the proposal to celebrate with Cresta.

“We want a mindful celebration, with a story that is not just abstract, but rooted in message and pride,” he said.

He said since Cresta's history was entwined with the country's independence, it was opportune to partner with Cresta to mark the histories in one event, thus an idea of Tea with SSK, to demystify and make the story more relatable.

“We also want to mark the monuments and places where he walked and helped create developments, so in a way this story is mapped all around us to make the connection between history and geography to make a mindful celebration,” he said.

For his part, Cresta President Hotel general manager, Mr Agripa Mbulawa explaned that they found it fit to partner with Donald, who was representing the first president who advocated towards the construction of President Hotel.

“President Hotel was built after SSK's advocation after a Mafikeng cartoonist drew Princess Marina climbing a ladder to find shelter in a bed nest on a morula tree,” he said.

He said the hotel was built in 1966 from a two storey building into the six storey building after Cresta took over as Cresta Marakanelo in the 80’s ENDS
