Yarona FM Awards December

The third annual Yarona FM Music Awards (YAMA) are slated for December 10 at the GICC.
This year’s nominees were announced in style at a cocktail event last Thursday.
The awards, themed XXXL music one size fits all, are divided into 15 categories and voting lines for the public are already open for the public to vote for their preferred artists via short message service until November 14.
Meanwhile, competition is expected to be stiff in some of the categories such as in song of the year where the sensational Dramaboi of Sala Le Nna hit is pitted against Amantle Brown of Black Mampatile, Team Distant with Sedi Laka and Ban T of the popular Naomi song.
Another tough category is best single-hip hop which comprises Scar with Ntueleng, Dramaboi-Sala Le Nna, Faded Gang feat. Ban T with Why so Faded Anthem.
Competition is also expected in the best collaboration category which has Team Distant and DJ Chrispin feat. Han-C with the song Sedi Laka, Dramaboi feat. Katlego with Sala Le Nna, Samba T feat. Qbio with Ditloo Boa Strong and Faded Gang feat. Ban T.
Other categories include best hip hop DJ, where completion will be between DJ Izzy, Root, Fauz and Max, best dance DJ-Ricky Lamar, German D, Kops and DJ Chrispin.
There is also best single kwaito category which comprises Calabooz, Rashid, Dipstrada and Mosako and in the best single (female) category competition is between Kearoma Rantao, Katlego, Kay Cee and Amantle Brown.
Other categories include best new comer, best single (male), best dance, best social media, producer of the year and people’s choice artists of the year award.
Speaking at the awards nominees’ announcement, Yarona FM station manager, Kelly Ramputswa said the station was committed to empowering and building Botswana’s entertainment industry, hence creating platforms such as the YAMAs to further enhance the quality of local music. ENDS
