Prisons men’s volleyball team lost dismally to Mafolofolo men’s volleyball team on September 17 at Lobatse stadium in a Mascom volleyball league encounter.
The correctional services boys started the game on a low note and lost the first set to the more determined Mafolofolo 17 points to 25.
Although they were slow and looked desperate from the first set, Prisons managed to wake up from their slumber in the second set, but a run of serves from Mafolofolo saw the latter take the lead once again.
Despite Prisons fighting their way back into the second set, a few quick points was all their opponents needed to win the set 25 points to 21.
Mafolofolo’s Boitumelo Botsang enjoyed the last set with his attacks and helped by blocks from his teammates, he gave his team a lead throughout the third set.
The team’s serves were also on target giving them a lead of the game. Prisons then had an error sequence, delaying the match for a while, which completely disgruntled the players and gave advantage to Mafolofolo to increase their lead and win 25 against 17 of Prisons.
Pulaetsile ‘Six’ Gaosegelwe, Mafolofolo coach said he was impressed with his boys’ play and added that their game plan went accordingly.
He also said although the movement on the court was not up to standard, he was impressed with the attacks and blocks the boys displayed against their opponents.
He also said his boys had good serves which were on target and allowed them to serve more balls.
On the other hand, Prisons coach Kealeboga Pebe said going forward they would work more on their passing and communication which were some of the problems his team encountered.
He added that passes from the Libero player were also too slow to the setter.
He also said passes were inefficient and cost them points, adding that the setter gave easy balls to his team mates which gave their opponent a ride in the park when they blocked their balls. Nevertheless, Pebe said they would improve on their weaknesses .
He also indicated that he had many new players hence the task to build and help new players blend with the old ones.
Meanwhile, Mag Stimela men’s volleyball had earlier had an encounter with Kalavango men’s volleyball and were beaten 3-1. Kalavango won tbe first set 25 against 22 Mag Stimela, second set won by Mag Stimela with 25 points to 17 of Kalavango, while Kalavango took the third set with 25 points to 14 of Mag Stimela and wrapped the fourth set with 25 points to 20 of Mag Stimela.
