Good parenting critical

Mayor of Lobatse, Ms Malebogo Kruger, says good parenting skills help shape children’s path to leadership.
Speaking during the 50 minutes visit to Bothakga Primary School on Tuesday (September 13), she said it was everyone’s responsibility to ensure that they mould children to become responsible leaders.
She said it was important that children envy actions that would inspire other people to be their best.
Ms Kruger, also councillor for Thema/Motswedi ward, said to achieve that, children should be exposed to life skills that would equip them to lead themselves and others in the world.
She said the beauty of building children into leaders came from the little things done on daily basis that helped guide them.
Earlier in her welcome remarks, Ms Bararo Jone lauded the mayor and her entourage for their 50 minutes visit to the school.
She said the school enrollment stood at 690 and 39 pupils are People with disabilities (PWD’S) and out of that, 12 are orphans while 32 are needy persons.
Despite living with disabilities, she said they were excelling well, in beekeeping, vegetable production and rabbit keeping. Such fields would help uplift their lives in future, as they could be undertaken at home.
Ms Jone cited challenges of transport for PWD’s and also urged parents to avoid hiding them at their homes but rather send them to school to explore their natural talents.
In his closing remarks, nominated councillor, Mr Phetogo Kgotlhwane urged all other stakeholders to assist the school to achieve their dreams of turning the school into a conducive learning environment for the special unit class. ENDS
