Revelation Blessed Peace Church in Maun has been commended for helping disadvantaged members of the society.
The church donated food hampers and toiletry to 10 families in Maun on Saturday (September 10).
“This is indeed a historical year. I am saying this because our country will be celebrating its golden jubilee, while the Revelation Blessed Peace Church celebrated its 40th anniversary last month”, said Thamalakane North councillor Mr Duncan Enga.
He thanked the Revelation Church bishop for observing a compassionate, just and caring nation pillar of the Vision 2016.
Mr Enga encouraged them to continue with the support by inviting other stakeholders in future to increase the gifts.
For his part, Bishop Moshe Simon said Revelation Church was founded and officially registered in March 1976 in Kgagodi by Mr Matlho Wadichaba who passed on in 1988.
Mr Simon said the church agreed to give to 40 disadvantaged families, 10 from each four regions being; Ngamiland, Southern, Central and Northern.
Warrant Officer II, Mr Gabobintshe Oye of the Botswana Defense Force said the church, unlike individuals gave selflessly without expectation from the receiver.
Mr Oye praised the church’s gesture, adding that they had shown their true self as a church.
Furthermore he encouraged those who were receiving the gifts to not despair in life.
He advised them that even if the gifts did not wholly meet their necessities, the gifts would help them go a mile urging them to continue trusting in God. ENDS
