Masisi commends LKC

11 Sep 2016

Vice President, Mr Mokgweetsi Masisi has commended Livingstone Kolobeng College (LKC) for its continued academic excellence over the years, hence contributing to national development.

Mr Masisi was speaking at the institution’s 10th year anniversary dinner on Friday (September 9).

He said the school was capable and had successfully competed at any place in the world, a notable achievement that has put Botswana on the world map.

Through the University of Cambridge Local Examination Syndicate, the college is internationally certified as an approved Oxford, Cambridge, and Royal Society of Arts examination centre offering Cambridge examinations at the International General Certificate of Secondary Education and A Level examinations.

In terms of its examination results over the past four years, LKC students sitting for the IGCSE have consistently achieved a pass rate of 99 per cent in all subjects with an average, aggregated, credit pass rate.

Meanwhile, the Vice President said government would continue to reach out to the private sector as the country prioritised education in its quest to achieve its overall goal of sustainable development that ensured a quality life for all Batswana.

“Our continued progress as a nation is, of course, dependent on our ability to educate and train our upcoming generation with the requisite knowledge and skills to compete in what is now a global and increasingly digitised economy, where technology and innovation have become the key tools of success,” said Mr Masisi.

Consequently, he said private educational institutions such as LKC were playing a critical role as local benchmarks for academic innovation and excellence.

Nonetheless, besides being consistently ranked among the global best in terms of its superior results at both IGCSE and A Levels, the college has also established its reputation as a leader in a wide range of co-curricular and sport activities.

In terms of sports, “LKC is to be further commended for its proactive participation in both Botswana Integrated Sports Association (BISA) and Independent Secondary Schools Sports Association code competition,” he said.

The LKC rugby team is the reigning BISA champions in U19 and U17 categories while they have also served as goodwill ambassadors at home and abroad through such activities as their hosting of tournament, which attracted teams from Zimbabwe and South Africa, and their tour of Wales earlier this year.
