SereetsiMtukudzi for live sessions

07 Sep 2016

Reowned Zimbabwe musician will on October 7 ascend BotswanaCraft stage alongside Sereetsi & The Natives in the Mascom Live Sessions.

Having performed in Botswana several times, Oliver Mtukudzi & the Black Spirits is among favourites in the showbizz.

Mtukudzi, also known as Tuku, began performing in 1977 when he joined the Wagon Wheels, a band that also featured Thomas Mapfumo.

Their single Dzandimomotera went gold and Tuku’s first album followed, which was also a major success.

With his husky voice, Tuku has become the most recognised voice to emerge from Zimbabwe .

A member of Zimbabwe’s KoreKore group, with Nzou Samanyanga as his totem, he sings in the nation’s dominant Shona language along with Ndebele and English.

He also incorporates elements of different musical traditions, giving his music a distinctive style, known to fans as Tuku Music.

Mtukudzi has had a number of tours around the world and has been on several tours in the UK, US and Canada to name a few.

Sereetsi and The Natives, who created a buzz with their debut album, Four String Confessions, would also be a marvel to watch.

Tomeletso Sereetsi, the lead vocalist, has given the audience something fresh, and thus far enjoyed good airplay, and has recently shared the stage with the legendary Jonathan Butler at the Gaborone International Music and Culture (GIMC) jazz show.

Sereetsi has also been busy touring South Africa and from his official twitter handle @sereetsinatives, the man and his crew are making inroads.

Tickets are already on sale at BotswanaCraft for P250 each and people have been urged to get them early as BotswanaCraft hardly ever has tickets on the day or  a week of the show.

The Mascom Live Sessions is a collaboration between Mascom Wireless and BotswanaCraft, along with partners and sponsors among them The Voice, Savanna dry, Duma FM, Travelodge, the Gazette and MI5. ENDS
