Visiting apostle roots for unity of church

07 Sep 2016

Apostle Mangaliso Machobane from Community Church in South Africa has called all Botswana churches to unite as the country celebrates 50 th of independence.

Preaching during the City of Francistown Jubilee Conference, Apostle Machobane observed that believers have forgotten the good news of salvation.

“Prophecies, healing and miracles are part of the package of the Christian faith. But the Word of God should be preached and lived first,” he said.

Apostle Machobane explained that the day was to network with individuals and organisation that were prepared to work together and complement one another for the benefit of the city and the nation.

He cautioned that if not vigilant, church mates will fall prey to money-launderers who will take advantage of their desperation and forget about their faith.

Apostle Machobane encouraged Batswana to focus on the true gospel of Christ that focuses on salvation and stop running after miracles, healing and prophecies.

He urged the church to take its mandate of possessing territories for God’s glory by all citizens adding that it is the primary assignment, to preach the gospel of God to all creatures.

Apostle Machobane has also observed that there are servants of God whose aim is to live in luxury at the expense of their congregations, warning that God is not pleased by that.

He said that even though most of them have been to Bible colleges to study theology, they are full of pride.

“They lack humility and are after fame and popularity, which is against the will of God. They should humble themselves and do away with showing off,” he said, calling for young pastors to have mentors who will guide them in their ministry journey.

On other issues, Apostle Machobane revealed that some of the members of the community believe in idols the church had begun idolising family, which he said is not Biblical.

For him, when the pastor becomes too popular than his calling, pride creeps in and the church becomes a cult.

For his part organising committee chairperson Mr Gadzani Makopola said one of the objectives of the conference was to create awareness of what God expects them to do in the season of Jubilee and to contribute to the implementation of Francistown’s vision 2022. ENDS
