South region will 08 September , 2016  host and commemorate international literacy day at Tomela grounds in Kanye.

The region’s public relations officer, Mr Neo Sealetsa said in an interview that Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development and Palapye MP Mr Moiseraele Goya will be the guest of honour at the event.

Also to grace the occasion are Kgosikgolo Malope II, deputy permanent secretary in the Ministry of Education and Skills Development Mr Simon Coles and representatives from both government departments and parastatals.

Among activities on the day, Out of School Education and Training (OSET) learners from all the 10 regions of the Ministry of Education and Skills Development will exhibit products ranging from skills areas offered under OSET skills development and training programme.

“The skills categories include, leather work, bead work, sewing, flower arrangement, textile and hosts of other products,” he said.

Learners will also be given the platform to testify how basic literacy and numeracy skills acquired through the Adult Basic Education Programme have impacted on their lives. ENDS
