Mascom Wireless will introduce an online portal called ‘Tsena Botswana’ with a view to profile the country and get information about the country in one place.
Speaking in a consultative meeting with media regarding the facility at Falcon Crest in Gaborone, Mascom public relations officer, Thato Moruti said they are introducing the online portal in order to increase interaction among the community through sharing of information and videos, pictures and stories told by Batswana from all corners of the country.
Furthermore, Moruti said the portal will help to promote Botswana around the world, imploring media to contribute content about the country and its people.
“We want to project main stories that are of interest to Batswana, and Batswana owned businesses, bloggers, and our history and our people,” he said on Tuesday. Mascom’s chief communications and public relations officer, Tebogo Lebotse-Sebego said the portal will increase bloggers and journalists’ audience, hence giving them an opportunity to be recognised by bigger organisations.
“Just as we are not going to pay contents providers for their articles even the classified section will be free of charge. We are not going to demand anything from you when you place an advert,” she said. Woman2woman magazine journalist, John Churu suggested for Mascom to allow its subscribers to browse the portal for free to attract more visitors to the portal.
“For this to be a successful site, you have to make it free to all Mascom subscribers.
And for content marketing, link the site to social media networks like Facebook and Twitter,” Churu said.
The Patriot Newspaper editor, Mpho Dibeela urged the company to develop a process of screening content from providers before uploading it on the portal. ENDS
