Tshiamo Chabaesele of Dimajwe will represent Serowe Administrative Authority in the Miss RADP beauty pageant grand finale billed for Serowe in October.

Chabaesele  was crowned Miss RADP-Serowe walking away with a double bed, bedding, cell phone and mirror, whilst Goitsemodimo Macheng of Sehunou and Sylvia John of Malatswai scooped first and second princess respectively.

Macheng walked away with kitchen unit, chest of drawers, cell phone and blanket whilst John won a chest of drawers, mirror, cell phone and blanket.

Chabaesele said in an interview that she intended to help change lives of young people in her village particularly orphans.

Orphans, she said, faced a lot of challenges that resulted in poor academic performance.

Therefore, she would work hand in hand with the community development officer and the community in Malatswai to make a difference in their lives.

A representative from Botswana International University of Science and Technology Dr Haniso Motlhabane, urged contestants to be proper role models in their respective communities.

He urged them to take their education seriously, saying education was a ladder that one stepped on to go up in life.

Contestants were from Sehunou, Majwanaadipitse, Dimajwe and Malatswai.

“If you allow your mind to dream and you follow that dream, certainly you will do it,” he said.

He also urged them to unleash their potential and show the world that they too could make it in life.

Serowe Administrative Authority chairperson, Mpho Keoreme, urged public officers and other stakeholders to join hands in supporting young people living in rural communities.

He said young people living in those four villages had potential, talent and capability just like their peers in urban areas. ENDS
