Balekane Ba Botswana ups independence hype

Preparations for the golden jubilee celebrations are making waves in every district.
Balekane ba Botswana coordinator, Mmoloki Thomola, said in an interview that they were at the forefront in raising the hype of celebrating independence.
He said their pageant, which had men and women contestants aged 50 years was an unusual event that would bring more fun.
Thomola said the other objective of the pageant was to raise funds for their charity projects.
Landulani Dikeledi was crowned the district’s Miss BOT50 while Gloria Serumola and Angela Kabecha became the first and second princesses respectively.
Sopra Masalela was crowned Mr BOT50 while Christian Molwantwa and Boipuso Bosiwa were crowned first and second princes respectively.
The queen and king walked away with household goods worth P7 500 while the first prince and princess’ household goods where worth P5 000 and the second prince and princess’ walked away with household goods worth P3 500.
The consolation prizes were worth P1 500 each. For his part, BOT50 Local Organising Committee (LOC) chairperson, Kebaabetswe Bogatsu challenged everyone to reflect on how and what he or she had contributed towards building the country since independence.
He said people should understand why the golden jubilee was being celebrated adding that it was worth celebrating as one of the greatest achievements.
He urged the audience to start preparing for the big day bearing in mind of how they wanted to be remembered in another 50 years to come.

He urged Batswana to celebrate and continue living in harmony and never lose the spirit of botho.
He encouraged the youth to follow the footsteps of the elders who were proud to have built what the country. ENDS
