Chinese Embassy donates ICT equipment

The Vice President, Mokgweetsi Masisi graced the donation of information communication and technology (ICT) equipment from deputy chinese Ambassador Mr Li Nan to Kubung Primary School in Maun on August 26.
Kubung Primary school was constructed and donated by the Chinese Embassy in 2011.
In his remarks, Mr Li said following the adopt a school initiative by Botswana, the Chinese Embassy adopted Kubung and had so far spent about P1 million through upgrading and renovation of the school facilities, teaching and sports equipment donations.
Mr Nan promised that their next project following the donation of ICT equipment would be connection of internet to the school.
He noted that ICT was crucial in advancement of quality education, therefore encouraged the school management to utilize the computer lab donated.
“Education is the foundation of a nation, it is also one of the important areas of cooperation between our two countries” he said.
Maun East MP, Mr Konstantinos Markus thanked the Chinese Embassy for the donation and the continued support.
Mr Markus said the embassy helped government with the completion of the primary school in 2011 in the midst of the economic recession.
The continued support, he said, was evidence of the commitment of the Chinese Embassy to development of quality education in Botswana.ENDS
