Kalavango disarm army women

Kalavango women came from behind to trounce BDF VI 3-1 in Serowe on Saturday.
In a spellbinding thriller that followed some lackluster shows against Selebi Phikwe Volleyball Club by both sides, Kalavango, after being ambushed in first set, evaded hawk eyed army side and in the process looted some ammunition to return the fire and smother BDF VI.
BDF VI women ambushed Kalavango in the first set and won it 25-23 before Kalavango woke up from their slumber, disarmed them and shot back 25-19 to set the match to a four set thriller.
With handful supporters who cheered at every sublime piece of volleyball basic skill of pass, set and hit, Kalavango looked set to reduce the army side into an early supper.
With a set apiece, Kalavango stamped their authority in the third set by stomping BDF VI 25-18 before piling the army side's miseries by a 25-21 in the fourth and last set of the duel.
Despite BDF VI ladies fighting gallantly and ultimately giving in to the probing Kalavango, Kalavango coach termed it a 'win without hustle.' He hoped that with coming games his charges would gel well and become a lethal force than they currently are.
Into their fold, Kalavango have sought the services of power hitter Magdeline Mochanang and one Leungo Keipegetse to initiate the passes that would set the attack in motion.
In other games played at the same venue, home side SVC were smothered 3-0 by the determined Kalavango. Earlier SVC fell 3-0 to BDF VI.
In a post-match interview, SVC coach Makgetla Gareanna observed some improvements in his teams' performance despite 3-0 loss becoming a default score line in many of their games.
His seemingly timid charges lack basics of pass, set and hit but, coach Gareanna is not worried about other skills save for first pass.
“If we get our first pass right then it will set our attack in motion,” said the SVC gaffer who constantly waves off criticism against his side that is devoid of confidence, self-belief and good communication amongst a host of other good qualities.
He argued that his ladies are incomparable to seasoned campaigners in the standing of Kalavango and other established sides. However, Gareanna preached discipline, a factor he said was key to building his team. ENDS
