28 Aug 2016

Serowe Sub- district has allocated P155 480 for independence celebrations when the country will be celebrating 50 years of independence.

The funds in question will be shared amongst the villages making Serowe Administrative Authority.

Speaking during the opening of Serowe Sub-council meeting, chairperson Mpho Kooreme said additional funds were expected from the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture to augment the amount in question.

“These however, do not stop VDC’s to continue with their fund raising activities,” said Kooreme who hailed the celebrations as a fitting tribute to “our founding fathers and mothers as well as men and women who contributed to making the country what it is today”.

For the celebrations to befit the 50 years of independence and remain etched in the minds of those who will partake, Kooreme called on his fellow councillors to assist village development committees in fund raising efforts.

On other issues, Kooreme said that preparations for the Miss RADP 2016 are ongoing.

He further said 16 eligible young ladies have been selected from villages such as Majwanaadipitse, Dimajwe, Malatswae and Sehunou.

The council chairperson said the contests will undergo a two weeks boot camp scheduled September 14-28.

He said Serowe Administrative Authority will be hosting the miss Central District Council RADP beauty pageant 2016 scheduled for October 29.ENDS
