Council chief wants more men in out of school programme

Kanye Administrative Authority (KAA) Sub -council chairperson Tlhomamo Dibeela, encouraged men to enrol in the Out of School and Education Training programme (OSET) in promising numbers as statistics show they are lagging behind.
Mr Dibeela said this when launching the South region learners' week in Kanye on Tuesday.
The launch which was to pave way for the world international reading and writing day celebration was held under the theme, Reading The Past And Writing The Future.
Mr Dibeela explained that OSET was working towards four principles of Democracy, Botho and Development, Self-reliance and Unity.
He encouraged OSET leaners to take their studies seriously as being uneducated was painful. Councillor Dibeeela explained that with OSET government was bridging the gap.
The chairperson also said in 1985 the National Development Policy augmented the OSET with skills and developing projects.
The principal education officer Ms Gagotheko Maruping, said the objectives of the learners week was to celebrate what they had achieved through OSET and pave way for the World International Reading and Writing day celebration which would be hosted in Kanye on August 08.
She explained that one of its objectives was that learners brought together their projects and exchange knowledge.
Ms Maruping encouraged those who were not enrolled in the OSET to register, adding that one could reach higher qualifications through the training. Ends
