Chairperson calls for retrospection

The chairperson of Letlhakeng sub-council, Cllr Tlotlo Batlhopi has urged councillors and civil servants to retrospect in order to lead the sub-district to greater heights.
Officially closing business of the week-log sub council forum on Friday, Cllr Batlhopi advised councillors and officers to guard against undoing factor such as pride, fear, rebellion, laziness and ignorance, which he said could lead to unproductivity should they be allowed to manifest themselves in individuals.
“Such factors can drastically inhibit an individual’s approach to change, even if it is a change for the better,” he said. Cllr Batlhopi also reminded the duo that the Kweneng District Council values transparency, and therefore advised that internal issues should be tackled with such to avoid any mistrust between them.
“I would therefore urge that mutual respect should prevail between the two entities to better iron out any existing misunderstandings in order to take our sub district forward. The councillors are policy makers while the civil servants are professionals who implement these policies, and therefore it is vital to pull together with botho,” he said.
Cllr Batlhopi advised the councillors to refrain from being bully when they deal with the officers in seeking clarification on issues that affect the area, and that they should learn to take advice from the officers as they are professionals.
He expressed concern at failure to observe time, saying it delays the council’s business as they are forced to extend time to accommodate business of the day. He also indicated his concern at what he said is disorderly conduct during the council proceedings.
He however said despite all that, the Letlhakeng sub-council councillors are known for their hard work, something which he said even the Kweneng District commissioner and the Council Secretary commended when they attend the forum. Ends
