BOT50 tenders done above board
21 Aug 2016
Coordinator of BOT50 says 72 local events management companies responded to the Expression of Interest for provision of the services of events management, organisation, coordination and running of festivals for the BOT50 vibe activities.
Speaking at a press briefing on the on-going preparations, Charity Kgotlafela said 33 out of the 72 companies issued with the Invitation to Tender responded and this was due to failure to comply with requirements such as PPADB Certificates and Tax Clearance Certificates.
“Only 22 companies then qualified and the tenders have since been evaluated and submitted for further assessment at the second level of evaluation at the Ministerial Tender Committee,” she said.
She indicated that some of the vibe activities include contemporary music festivals, jazz music festivals, dikhwaere music festivals, gospel music festivals, traditional song and dance, choral music festivals, and poetry and comedy festivals.
Kgotlafela further called on the private sector, civil society and communities to contribute financially or in kind to augment the budget that has been provided for the celebration.
She said the whole idea is to ensure that Botswana celebrates its 50th anniversary as a united and proud nation. Ends
