Tsogwane appeals for stakeholders support
21 Aug 2016
Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Slumber Tsogwane, has requested stakeholders to support Botswana Homeless and Poor People’s Federation.
Officially opening the federation's meeting on August 18, Mr Tsogwane said it was government’s intention to support the organisation to continue to make a difference in their lives.
He said government alone ould not eradicate poverty given all equally competing proprieties and therefore needed involvement of all stakeholders, including Community Trusts.
He said the Francistown City Council had leased the organisation 1.7 hectares of land for a horticulture project, and that land needed fencing and water for irrigations, hence upon stakeholders to make it possible for them to start a project.
Mr Tsogwane said poor communities organised themselves to form savings groups where they worked together collectively to save money and improve their livelihoods. Ends
