Masisi grateful for support

18 Aug 2016

The Vice President, Mr Mokgweetsi Masisi, has thanked Moshupa-Manyana constituents and Batswana at large for wishing him a speedy recovery when he was hospitalised in South Africa recently.

Mr Masisi expressed gratitude during a kgotla meeting he addressed in Moshupa on August 17.

He expressed joy that Batswana from all corners of the world prayed, called and swamped his mail box with messages, wishing him well.

Mr Masisi, also Member of Parliament for Moshupa/Manyana was thus happy to announce that he was now back in perfect health and ready to serve the nation, thanks to the prayers.

One resident, Ms Patience Pheko told the meeting that she prayed for Mr Masisi when she heard he was not well.  “We thank God for your good health,” she said.

Mr Masisi further informed the residents that he had formed Ipelego Community Development Trust (ICD), a non-profit making organisation, with a view to improve the conditions of their lives.

He explained that ICD would focus on agriculture and livelihoods.

“It is not my Trust but I will play a pivotal role in its operations to ensure all the benefits that accrue to it trickle down to you,” he said.

The Trust would purchase a tractor that residents were free to use for ploughing under the ISPAAD programme, he added.

Further, Mr Masisi shared that he had sourced funds to drill boreholes in Molomoojang, Naledi, Machana, Tshwaane, Moshupa and Ga-Majaja.

He said two other boreholes from a package of eight would be drilled in Makopong in the Kgalagadi South and Gojwane in the Central district respectively.

He said the boreholes would help government efforts to provide Batswana with water.

Mr Masisi also visited Pitseng where he promised residents that the Moshupa-Manyana gravel road that passed through the village would be tarmacked through the Economic Stimulus Programme.

He said initially, the tarmac was supposed to stretch from Manyana to Naledi but was downsised as a result of a shoe string budget. However, he said the Moshupa-Naledi stretch would be maintained on a regular basis at a total cost of over P4 million.

He thus challenged project supervisors to ensure government got value for money in the process. ENDS
