Trio combines to build art empire

Some creative young minds of different arts talent have collaborated to express their art skills to earn a living.
The youngsters are Obakeng Malepa, Bokamoso Malepa who are brothers and Patricia Khutshwane, who are currently working on a frame comprising a mirror and a guitar.
In an interview with BOPA, the trio said the message behind their piece was to express their love for diverse art work.
They do both visual and performing arts, thus the Malepa brothers focus on music, trending with the name Street Summit, while Patricia is a bead maker.
Patricia said she got the inspiration of making neck pieces, bracelets and earrings from her mother, who used materials such as beads, plastics and bottles.
She is also a fashion designer and working with Street Summit, she said was an advantage as they advertise her work through modelling.
“Working with these young men is absolutely fantastic as we all striving for one goal. We assist each other to get the best from what we do,” she said.
Meanwhile, Street Summit’ passion and love for music started at an early age and were inspired by their mother who used to sing at church.
Born and raised in Serowe, Street Summit do Motswako genre and said they wanted to gather raw talent from the streets and show people that street talent could go places.
The two brothers are currently working on a mix tape dubbed Secret of the Riches which is expected to be out end of September.
However,like other local artists, these youngsters do experience some financial challenges owing to expensive equipment and other material. ENDS
