Autlwetse encourages farmers to combine efforts
17 Aug 2016
Assistant Minister of Agriculture, Mr Kgotla Autlwetse, has challenged farmers to combine their efforts towards a successful ploughing season.
When responding to complaints about shortage of tractors and farming machinery and or implements, Mr Autlwetse suggested that farmers should combine their efforts by contributing machinery.
Mr Autlwetse, who is also the Member of Parliament for the area, justified his suggestion premised on higher prices of farming machinery and implements.
“Not every one of us here can afford to buy a tractor,” said Mr Autlwetse who called on the private sector to help the government in that regard.
He called on all those who could afford to buy tractors and farming implements not to overcharge those who were still struggling.
He challenged his electorates to commercialise their farming saying some people could trade by ploughing for others.
Mr Autlwetse advised Mabeleapodi residents to hold meetings with district agricultural coordinator ahead of the ploughing season to map how best they could prepare, and if need be invite him (Mr Autlwetse) to address them. ENDS
