16 Aug 2016

The 20 bicycles donated to Mogobane Junior Secondary School will make life easier for those students who already endure the 22 kilometre walk to school every day.
The donation is courtesy of the South East Chairperson Fund in conjuction with Youth Empowerment and JonMore Cycling Club.
Speaking during the handing over of the bicycles to Mogobane JSS, donors represantative, Mr Dilo Abram expressed optimism that the donation will help improve the school’s academic results and reduce the regular 22 kilometres distance walked to and from school on daily basis by the students.
Mogobane school head Ms Tsemane Motswidinyane said the bicycles will also be a motivational factor to most students who travel long distances and are always expected to reach the school despite transport shortage due to roads status in the area.
“I pray and thank God for this day. I have sleepless nights thinking about how much these children are suffering due to the long distance they travel daily,” said the school head.
She also expressed optimism over the fact that the pillar of a compassionate nation was evident from Good Smaritans who have the welfare of the less privileged at heart by addressing their plight.
Ms Motswidinyane said the donation will also play a positive role in the future of individual students who are victims of circumstances as they always come to school tired because of the distance walked and sometimes they miss lessons due to fatigue.
On behalf of the donor, the South East District council chairperson Mr Phenyo Segokgo emphasised the need to take education seriously and use it as a shield to protect one’s live without fear.
He challenged student who benefited from the gesture to be exemplary and commit themselves towards excellence. This will motivate the donors to continue with the good spirit. ENDS
