Gamajaalela launches cluster policing
16 Aug 2016
Gamajaalela on August 12 launched cluster policing to help fight the escalating crime in the Southern district.
The guest speaker who also mobilised the community, former member of the Botswana Defence Force Mr George Tshikare encouraged the newly formed cluster to show commitment and protect the village from any acts of crime.
The cluster is formed by villagers and police officers stationed at Gamajaalela.
Mr Tshikare who is well known for coaching karate in Botswana said the police alone could not reduce the increasing rate of crime currently giving the police and members of the community a headache. He said investors are attracted where there is less crime adding that in some villages, clusters had contributed a lot in assisting the police to curb crime.
Mr Tshikare advised the clusters to work cooperatively in assisting the community in a good spirit while the villagers should also give them full support.
Kgosi Phatsimo Mahalelo of Gamajaalela encouraged youth in his village to engage in sports activities to avoid being idle and temptation to engage in wayward behaviour.
Kgosi Mahalelo said volunteerism and self-reliance had always helped in advancing developments in the village.
He called upon residents to report any crime suspicious activities and appealed to members of the community to work jointly with the clusters and refrain from gossip and encourage public cooperation. ENDS
