The Institute of Development Management (IDM) students who were attached to the Kanye main clinic have been applauded for donating a cough spot for Tuberculosis (TB) patients.
Speaking during the handover of the project in Kanye on August 12, the nurse in charge, Mr Onkabetse Magashula said the cough spot would afford patients privacy which he described as a critical component in the provision of medical health service.
He explained that the students identified gaps in the institution’s provision of service then came up with the initiative to assist.
“This project will come in handy for us because we screen every patient for TB and all of them need privacy to cough and collect sputum,” he said.
For her part, the project coordinator Ms Kgomotsego Swerekisi said they identified the service gap during community sensitiSation campaigns on TB.
Ms Swerekisi said the project was made possible by donations from Barclays Bank, Puma Filling Station and some members of the Kanye community.
She explained that the objective of the initiative was to curb the spread of TB, which she said was still a concern across the nation.
The Marapalalo ward councillor, Mr Kabelo Lemme also applauded the students for their efforts. He said the donation would complement government efforts to combat TB. ENDS
