Deputy Chief of Gangwaketse, Kgosi Kebapetse Telekelo has urged residents of Kanye to attend kgotla meetings in large numbers.
Kgosi Telekelo made the call in a kgotla meeting at the main kgotla in Kanye on August 10.
The meeting was to update Kanye residents about the progression in the construction of the sewage water pipes in their village.
In his welcoming remarks at the main kgotla, Kgosi Telekelo raised concerns of residents not attending meetings in satisfying numbers.
He said it is not wise for morafe to ignore kgotla meetings as these meetings are always beneficial to them.
Kgosi Telekelo reminded them that issues that affect them on daily basis are always discussed in these kgotla meetings.
He also pointed out that not attending meetings is failure to practice their rights as some decisions concerning them could be concluded without their input.
He expressed concern about the shocking rise of rape cases in his village, adding the police are investigating rape cases where young girls are victims.
Kgosi Telekelo asked the parents to try and monitor their children whereabouts as this may reduce such cases.
He also advised men to be protective over the girl child than being monsters to them. ENDS
