Moshupa reaps from govt programmes

Professor Setumile Morapedi has urged youth to utilise government programmes to improve their livelihoods.
She said this in Moshupa on August 11 during an occasion to mark the beginning of the 50 days countdown to Botswana golden jubilee slated for September 30.
Professor Morapedi said the festivities provided a platform for the nation to look back where it came from and map way forward.
She said although Botswana was among the 10 poorest nations of the world at independence, the country had developed tremendously and become an envy to many.
Professor Morapedi said therefore Moshupa was one of the villages that benefited a lot from  government programmes and policies among them; poverty eradication, Back to school programmes and many others.
A pioneer of Moshupa Study Group, Professor Morapedi called on youth in Moshupa to take advantage of the programme, which she said had changed the lives of many.
She also encouraged the youth, especially beneficiaries of an array of government programmes to put in a lot of hard work hard so that they could improve their lives and help create employment.
Professor Morapedi extended the same gesture to members of the community saying many such programmes are not exclusive to young people alone.
For his part, Kgosi Oscar Mosielele of Moshupa concurred, urging the youth to rise to the occasion and derive a lot of benefits from government programmes.
Botswana’s 50th   anniversary, he said should challenge individual Batswana to reflect on what they have done to further develop the country and not ask what the country has done for each one of them.
He said there is a lot that people of Moshupa should take pride in such as the recent crowning of Thata Kenosi as Miss Botswana.
Also, Kgosi Mosielele urged residents of Moshupa to always come to forums such as BOT50 festivities in large numbers adding the development will afford them the opportunity to get appraisals on pertinent developmental issues from their political representatives.
The celebration which was marked by numerous activities from the village youth was educational as most  performances acted as a reminder of the country’s small beginnings to   to the current status she has become globally. ENDS
