Amos remains star - Olopeng

Minister of Youth, Sport and Culture (MYSC), Thapelo Olopeng, has criticised people who took to social media to demean and insult Nigel Amos after he failed to qualify for the next stage of the Olympic Games.
Speaking at a fitness event in Gaborone on Saturday (August 13), Minister Olopeng said such people were not patriotic.
He said Amos and Team Botswana members at the Olympics needed support, adding that Amos still remained a star.
On other things, Olopeng expressed gratitude towards those who attended the fitness event, saying the ministry had devoted every second week of the month for the activity termed National Fitness Programme.
He said the country was faced with an increase of non-communicable diseases that he said could be combated through physical exercise.
He encouraged youth to partake in fitness activities since they were a digital society where they spent most of their times on computer and cellphones.
For his part, CEO of Botswana Stock Exchange (BSE), Thapelo Tsheole, said their partnership with MYSC was to add up to the 50 years celebrations in making people aware of both their physical fitness and financial fitness.
He said their role was to give advice on financial matters since there were various investment opportunities that Batswana could take advantage of.
The event, which was a collaboration of MYSC, BSE and other sponsors, started off with a walk from the ministry at the Central Business District to the national stadium.
Activities included aerobics, zumba, spinning, relays and tug of war. ENDS
