Chief Justice lauds Hukuntsi court

Chief Justice Maruping Dibotelo has acknowledged and congratulated Hukuntsi magistrate court for its outstanding consistent performance and coming top in the usage of Court Records Management System (CRMS) over the past four years.
Speaking during the CRMS awards ceremony in Hukuntsi over the weekend, Justice Dibotelo explained that the CRMS is an electronic tool introduced efficiently in 2005 to manage cases and is the anchor of a flagship reform judicial case management introduced in 2008.
He said the CMRS enables the judicial system to generate statistics and monitor the magistrate courts across the country and ensure that they adhere to the correct data entry standards.
Justice Dibotelo indicated that it is pleasing to note that the Hukuntsi magistrate court has over the years been performing exceptionally well in court records management.
He credited the Hukuntsi magistrate staff for being a shining example of how a distant station with limited resources can excel and encouraged other courts to benchmark on them.
He said it has surfaced that great leadership and team work are key ingredients in obtaining outstanding results in the usage of CRMS, therefore pleaded with the magistrate courts to work cohesively as a team and strive to serve the nation at all times.
He stated that the judicial system will in the near future introduce a reward and recognition system which will be informed by reforms and core business of delivering quality justice expeditiously to all Botswana inhabitants.
The expansion of the reward system, he said is extended to make the judicial system a center of excellence by recognising and rewarding those officers and stations whose performance is stupendous and outstanding.
He further pleaded with the Hukuntsi village leadership to work hand in hand with the magistrate court personnel and offer them all the support they might need in executing their daily duties.
For his part, Kgalagadi North Member of Parliament, Mr Itumeleng Moipisi urged the Chief Justice to fully advocate for the construction of a magistrate court building in his constituency.
He said as a cost saving measure, the Ministry of Defence, Justice and Security should build a permanent magistrate court in Kgalagadi North and not resort to leasing out privately owned structures, which might be costly. Ends
