07 Aug 2016
Philadelphia-Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church has donated school uniform and jerseys to 128 Therisanyo Primary School pupils.
Speaking at the handover ceremony in Gaborone on Friday, the church representative, Mr Dumisani Ndlovu said the donation was not only intended to keep children warm physically, but also inside by making them feel loved and cared for.
Mr Ndlovu said the donation also intended to encourage children to adhere to the principle of caring.
The church also adopted seven needy pupils and would provide them with stationery as well as insurance cover.
For his part, Old Naledi North councillor, Mr Oarabile Motlaleng said the church’s gesture was a way to help parents by reducing school uniform costs.
That, Mr Motlaleng said, did not mean parents were needy and desperate.
Nevertheless, he commended the church for its gesture and thus urged its members to keep helping one another.
