Morewagae Mmamongwato queen

Warona Morewagae was on Saturday crowned  Mmamongwato queen.

 The 23 year old Morewagae, originally from Ranaka, defeated other 14 contestants to snatch the Mmamongwato tittle, including Peo Rapoo from Serowe and Gomolemo Madome from Palapye who were first and second princess, respectively. 

Morewagae stays with her mother who is currently working in Serowe.

She told BOPA that the tittle was a platform to learn about other cultures of different ethnic groups in the central district.

The Mmamongwato queen said she embraced the concept of unity and culture in diversity, adding that culture was important to the young generation.

The queen attributed the success of the nation to its rich culture, which was embraced from immemorial by the forefathers. 

During her tenure, she is expected tour historical sites, go around spreading the gospel of culture and will attend community event in the central region. 

The coordinator of the pageant, Abang Maruping said the name of the pageant Mmamongwato did not give the description of any physical features of a woman but it just embraced and emphasised the importance of women holistically.

Equally,Mr Maruping said the pageant  intended to promote culture, unity, stability, tourism as well as the Bangwato concept and pride. 

The pageant organised by Kings Multimedia is planned to be held annually. ENDS
