Kemodisa wins gospel show

Keobokile ‘Talita’ Kemodisa is the winner of P20 000 prize money and a recording deal for the Just Gospel TV show season one. She was crowned during a grand finale in Maun on July 30.
Kemodisa beat three other contenders in the top four finalists with 17 572 votes, Lechani Botepe 13 894, Leungo Petros 6 148 and Bame Maoto 3 635 votes. Just Gospel TV show aired on Botswana Television (BTV) on Sunday night.
In an interview, Kemodisa whose singing talent was recognised from a young age, said she was thankful to God and fans who made her win against great contenders.
“I am thankful and humbled to my supporters, being number one is not something that one will easily expect,” she said.
The 27-year-old Kemodisa who hails from Kanye said the Just Gospel TV show helped her to grow and that she would host numerous shows to appreciate her followers and expand her music career.
Kemodisa said she was thankful for the prize money which she intended to invest wisely by boosting her supplies, company amongst other things. She also had the option of going to study in South Africa.
Officiating at the event, Ngami Member of Parliament, Thato Kwerepe, commended the brains behind Just Gospel TV show.
Gospel music, he said, generally lacked support in the country therefore Just Gospel TV show did a splendid job in nurturing gospel artistes.
Kwerepe noted that the show did not have an official sponsor yet put P200 000 worth of prize money and a recording deal.
“It is a beautiful programme, they recently won an award in South Africa as the best TV programme in Africa thus putting Botswana on the map,” he said.
He implored the government and private sector to rally behind the show.
Batawana regent, Kgosi Kealetile Moremi appreciated Just Gospel TV show for honouring Maun by hosting the top 10 launch and the grand finale.
Kgosi Moremi said gospel music inspired and moulded youth with botho and Christian principles.
Just Gospel TV founder Prophetess Keorapetse Muzila said the show, which started in August 2015 aimed to popularise gospel music and to mentor great talent found in Botswana.
“There are many gospel stars at churches who are never recognised beyond the church arena,” she said.
The finalists, she noted came from four corners of Botswana as Maun, Gabane, Palapye and Molepolole evidence of abundance of talent in the country.
Prophetess Muzila said the show started with about 400 people who came for auditions and through eliminations remained with the four finalists.
She appealed to potential sponsors to come on board and assist the show as season two begins in August 2016.
The audience was mesmerised by performances from the top four finalists, gospel icons Tebogo Sethomo, Vusi Mtukofa and gospel rapper from Swaziland amongst others. ENDS
