It is important for entrepreneurs to produce quality goods, which can compete in the market.
Speaking at the pre-judging official opening and market day of the Central District Council (CDC) social and community development exhibitions, the director of Ebat Lodge, Mr Ogomoditse Maruapula, emphasised that putting effort to produce quality goods should be a priority as it could help one to grow their business.
He said entrepreneurs should know that they will never know where their product will end as there are tourists everywhere everyday who might be interested in them.
In addition, he said that it will be an honour to the entrepreneur to produce a product that can be shared with the whole world proudly, which can open doors for them to the international market.
“When customers like your product, demand will be high hence pocketing better profits and creating a good name for yourselves, which also comes with hard work and determination,” he said.
Furthermore, he said quality products market themselves and they should not be lazy to do better to keep their customers and prevent them from buying in faraway places.
He noted at times, people leave low quality products in their local areas to search for same products of good quality because people value quality.
Mr Maruapula said entrepreneurs should also be reasonable not to overprice or underprice their goods in order to grow their business.
He added that overpricing or underpricing can kill the business, so it will be wise for them to know how to price looking at the material and quality of their products.
CDC chief social and community development officer, Mr Lerothodi Baruti said the pre-judging of exhibitions are part of the poverty eradication initiative, which aims at creating a platform for marketing beneficiaries’ products and services in their district.
He added they want to instill the spirit of competitiveness among the beneficiaries and create an opportunity for economic empowerment and beneficiaries and implementers to share ideas, knowledge and skills.
Mr Baruti said they are also preparing for the consumer fair; the high quality products will represent CDC and compete with others also having an opportunity to sell at this national event.
Judges representative, Mr Tshepo Mosweu said the competition was tough to judge as entrepreneurs showed commitment in producing quality goods even though there are others who need to do better.
He said they were judging looking at the creativity and quality of the product in which a lot did not do well on.
“The finishing touches were not up to standard for a lot and we hope they realize how quality matters so that customers do not feel cheated,” he added.ENDS
