Substance abuse awareness month next week
28 Jul 2016
The Substance Abuse Awareness Month is back, and this year it is under the theme: Substance Abuse Free Botswana-Independence for all, with the hashtag, #DrugsMustFall.
A press release from BOSASNET says the theme was inspired by the fact that Botswana celebrates 50 years of independence this year hence to leave behind substance abuse as we stride into the next 50 years.
It says substance abuse is a threat to the nation’s safety and peace as with it brings along violence and crime and therefore imperative to curb its growth and prevent young people from starting use.
The release says this year there will be three main activities of the campaign which are the Awareness Walk that takes place on 1st August, 2016 at the Main Mall from 3pm and the nation is encouraged to join the walk.
The second activity stated by the release will be the Family Fun Day which intends to combine fundraising, fun and education with the objective of encouraging youth to have fun filled activities without any use of habit forming substances. The event will be held at BOSASNet on the 6 August 2016 from 8am - 4pm.
The release further states that there will be various stalls where stakeholders will be selling and displaying their products, including second-hand clothes boutique by BOSASNet. Ends
