Botswana crowns queen today

28 Jul 2016

The most expensive and expedient national beauty contest in the history of the country under the stewardship of Botswana Council of Women (BCW) and the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture (MYSC) which have been talked about has finally arrived after months of mouthwatering promises.

An excited MYSC official Thobo Tlhasana told BOPA that July 29 was D-Day for the contestants to show multitudes of Miss Botswana pageant lovers what they had in offer.
He said all was ready and everything was according to schedule.

As such, he called on Batswana to come and witness the most prestigious pageant off them all at the Gaborone International Convention Centre tonight.

At least 12 finalists from the initial top 30 are set to compete for this coveted crown which will see the queen scooping P450 000.

The over P5 million budget pageant has however attracted a number of local sponsoring companies to delight on Tlhasana who said the response shown was heartwarming to say the least.

Being the 50th Miss Botswana edition, the fairest of them all should consider herself lucky as the country is celebrating its silver jubilee and is posed to represent the country at the Miss World contest which is scheduled to be held in Washington DC in December 20.

The 12 finalists are Aisha Monna, Angela Atlang, Gaseangwe Balopi, Katlego Gaotsenelelwe, Katlego Yane, Lorraine Ditsebe, Mphoyame Sephikwe, Nicole Gaelebale, Oabona Kamona, Phatsimo Baoagi, Sharon Seno and Thata Kenosi.

DJ La Timmy, Shanti Lo and Mpho Sebina will provide entertainment. Ends
