Deputy general manager-mega projects, at National Strategy Office (NSO) has applauded donors for their continued support of the Presidential Charitable Trust.
Speaking during a handing over of donations to the Presidential Charitable Trust, Dr Kolaatamo Malefho said the exemplary traits portrayed by donors should encourage others to follow suit.
“On behalf of the President of Botswana, I am happy to accept the various donations from the different companies and individuals,” he said.
He said the donations would improve the livelihood of the ordinary Motswana.
Dr Malefho further said such kindness and generosity was commendable as it would go a long way in helping the trust in its objectives.
“It should also be noted that donating in times like these when the economy is showing signs of contraction is compassion at its best for the less privileged,” said Dr Malefho.
“Such gestures ensure that dignity is extended to the rest of us who have been unfortunate in life. We view this dedication to positively changing lives as a true mark of value and thanks to the generosity and compassion exhibited here today, a lot of Batswana’s lives who are less fortunate will be transformed and enhanced,” he said.
Skyline Canopies donated 200 blankets, Mr Rapula Moetlo donated 100 blankets, Voltex donated rechargeable lights and Mr Nadeem Mustafa donated P5 600.
Ms Kedinnetse Ntwaagae, managing director of Skyline Canopies, said her company saw it fit to contribute to the Vision 2016 pillar of a compassionate, just and caring nation.
“This blanket donation is our way of giving back to the community that we exist and do business with,” she said.
She indicated that government and the public at large have supported their business over the years and have seen it grow.
“I would like to thank Office of the President for having afforded us the opportunity to make our contribution,” she said.
For his part, Mr Mpho Ntobezi, store manager at Voltex, said their company had been in existence a little over a year and they are a part of the Bidvest group.
“I hope these rechargeable lights go a long way in helping those that will receive them and we remain committed to being involved in community projects,” he said. Ends
