Father urges Catholics to be content with faith

25 Jul 2016

The parish priest of St Gabriel Catholic Church in Mahalapye, Father Kenneth Mokgothu, has advised Roman Catholic Church members to be content with their faith.

Speaking during the church’s mass sermon as well as confirmation of 17 women into St Mary’s solidarity hosted by Bobonong parish Pelo ee Boitshepho on July 24, Father  Mokgothu appealed to Catholics to be content with what they had within the church  and get rid of anxiety and doubt as God was within their mist.

The church’s mass was was attended by St Mary solidarity women from the  Vicariate of Francistown, which consists of four regions North West, North East, Central and Southern.

Father Mokgothu said, “In the 15th Sunday in the ordinary time Jesus was presented as a Good Samaritan who shows pity and who heals the sick, in the 16th Sunday Jesus was presented as a friend”, and as such called on Catholics to embrace that so that they could grow spiritually and not wonder around.

He said the relationship they had with Jesus was through prayer which nourished their faith and spirituality.

The priest called on them to introspect and know who they are, who is God and that way they would make a big difference in their lives.

To the St Mary women who were confirmed, he said “nobody was forced to join the solidarity but followed their religious conviction which was coming from their hearts’, and that they should continue do their utmost best in spiritually.

He implored them to be respectful to elders, not to be boastful and that they should  at all times attend Mass and sacraments.

The responsibility that you have taken was huge and as such you should  be ready to take on the responsibilities of the solidarity, he added.
Fr Mokgothu commended them for their dedication during the activity that started on July 20 and stated that during that period St Mary solidarity there was content and soundness which describes the spirit of Catholicism.

The church’s activity started on Wednesday at Matshekge Senior Secondary School and on Saturday St Mary solidarity members processed to the Bobonong Primary Hospital to pray for the sick as well as prayed in all access roads against road accidents.

Chairperson of Pelo ee Boitshepho parish Mr Baboloki Bajiti said the parish received P5 000 from St Mary solidarity to help them push their projects.

Mr Bajiti said the parish has several projects they had to complete such as construction of a crèche, parish house and develop their nine hectare farm and that the funds would be channeled towards church’s projects.

He hailed the activity and said it would help Catholics in Bobonong grow in spirituality as well as convert new members.

Father Gabriel Gaiye of Pelo ee Boitshepho stated that their parish was still growing but was able to hold the major church activities.

He said last year they hosted the St Anne solidarity and was happy that members came in numbers during such activities. Ends
