Dovedale to reap from ESP

Electrification of Dovedale and construction of the road that links the village with other areas are underway.

President Lt Gen. Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama said both the village electrification and construction of Dibete-Machaneng Road that will pass through Dovedale and Makwate would carried out under the Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP).

The President, who was addressing a kgotla meeting in Dovedale July 21, promised to visit again before end of the year to enjoy bon fire with the residents. 

Minister of Transport and Communications, Mr Tshenolo Mabeo, said the 132km Dibete- Machaneng Road project will be divided into two portions.

He said they were still studying the design of the road, adding that by end of August, inspection of design would be finalised and would immediately advertise the project tender.

The minister said the intension was to start construction by mid-September. 

Mr Mabeo told the residents that campsites might be close to the village so that at the end of construction, the structures could benefit the community.

He explained that after completion of the construction of the road, the campsite would be handed to the village development committee.

Area Member of Parliament, who is also Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso praised the President’s poverty eradication initiatives as well as his efforts to resurrect the spirit of helping the needy.  

Kgosi Ditodi Namane of Dovedale had earlier on requested the President to update them on construction of the road and pleaded for electrification of his village.

Kgosi Namane also requested the President to visit them again so that he could share a bon fire with them. The President donated 30 chairs to the kgotla, 50 blankets to VDC, bibles and football kits to the village. Ends
