Otlhogile cautions officers

Acting deputy district commissioner for Letlhakeng Sub-district, Mr Boammaaruri Otlhogile has advised government officers to desist from tossing clients from one office to the other when they come to seek assistance.
Addressing officers at a Sub-District Development Committee meeting in Letlhakeng last Thursday, Mr Otlhogile noted that being unfamiliar with services offered by various departments, it was common that clients might stray to wrong offices.
He added that if such occurred, it was important to check the availability of the officer at the relevant department before sending clients there.
“There are instances where clients are in need of services of extension officers outside Letlhakeng, and instead of just referring them there, it is upon an officer to check the availability of that person before referring a client there.
This is to avoid an instance where a client will go there only to find that the officer is not around,” he said.
Mr Otlhogile said issues that may be taken for granted such as bus fares were hard to come by for the non-working class clientele, and that coming to offices time and again only to return without assistance may demoralise them.
He also advised officers to implement government programmes and policies without alignment to any political organisation and bias.
He informed officers who were mostly based at the Rural Administration Centre and commuted daily from Molepolole to desist from knocking off earlier than the official time.
Meanwhile, Botswana Housing Corporation (BHC) buildings inspector, Mr Tshepo Boy updated the same meeting on progress on the public officers housing initiative in various villages in the sub-district.
Mr Boy said they were currently constructing 33 LA2 houses in 10 villages with Salajwe having the majority at six.
He added that four houses would be constructed in each village in Kaudwane, Khudumelapye, Dutlwe and Takatokwane.
He said Motokwe would have three while Malwelwe, Moshaweng, Ditshegwane and Maboane would have two houses each, adding that the houses were at various stages of construction. Ends
