Fifteen benefit from backlog
21 Jul 2016
Fifteen people have benefitted from the poverty eradication backlog in Sehithwa, Kareng, Xaikai and Semboyo. This was stated by the Assistant Minister for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration, Mr Dikgang Makgalemele, in Parliament on July 20.
He said three beneficiaries were from Sehithwa, three from Kareng, eight from Xaikai and one from Semboyo “All of the above fifteen beneficiaries have been assessed and trained, except for three Xaixai small stock clients whose training is scheduled for July 26 .
The backlog is mainly attributed to incomplete packages, whose procurement is at various stages and is expected to be completed from last week of July to end of August 2016,” Mr Makgalemele said. The assistant minister said 70 beneficiaries were recorded under the poverty eradication programme in Sehithwa, 18 in Kareng, 11 in Makakung, 28 in Xaikai and 29 in Semboyo prior to the backlog eradication cut-off date.
He also said there were no people assisted under the poverty eradication programme after their cattle were shot as no assessments were deliberately carried out for that purpose. Ngami MP Mr Thato Kwerepe had asked the assistant minister to provide the number of people who benefited from the poverty eradication backlog in the five villages, and those assisted since their cattle were shot.
