Ministry aware of classroom shortage

21 Jul 2016

The Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso, has admitted that there is a challenge of shortage of classrooms at Ditshegwane and Maboane Primary schools.
She informed Parliament  on July 20  that her ministry had no plans to construct additional classrooms due to budgetary constraints saying  resource permitting, the two schools would be considered along with other schools facing the same challenge through the Backlog Eradication Project.
“According to the Primary School Leaving Examination results for the two schools, there has been fluctuation in performance over the past four schools and this may partly be as a result of the shortage of adequate classrooms in both schools,” she said.
MP for Takatokwane, Mr Ngaka Ngaka, had asked the minister if she was aware that Ditshegwane and Maboane primary schools did not have enough classrooms.
He also wanted to know  when the classrooms would be built and how shortage of  classrooms had affected the performance in both schools. ENDS
