Seronga police are investigating an incident in which a 65-year-old man was found dead following an elephant attack.
Superintendent Mokwadi Willie confirmed the incident in an interview, noting that the old man met his fate when he was on his way to Beetsha from Apamoxeke settlement.
He said the incident took place on July 15.
When the man did not arrive home as expected, the family members got worried and embarked on a massive search only to find him lying helplessly on the road. He said they reported the matter to the police and the deceased was rushed to Seronga clinic where he was certified dead.
In another incident in Maun, a 31-year-old woman of Boseja ward was found dead in her one-roomed house on Saturday morning.
Superintendent Peter Gochela said the deceased, who was an employee of Shoppers, was found by her grandmother after rushing to her room in response to the deceased’s 11-year-old boy who had told her that his mother’s room window was broken.
The police official said the old woman found her grand-daughter lying naked on the floor and reported the matter to the police.
Superintendent Gochela noted that her body was rushed to Letsholathebe Memorial Hospital pending post-mortem.
He said they suspected homicide even though there were no visible wounds found.
He said they managed to arrest a certain man the same day for questioning in connection with the incident.
However, the police chief explained that incidents of murder were worrisome, adding that since beginning of the year, they had recorded five while last year they had nine cases.
Surprisingly, he said all the five incidents took place at Boseja ward. ENDS
