Masisi promises more economic stimulus projects

14 Jul 2016

The government will roll out more Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP) projects in the coming financial year.

Vice President Mr Mokgweetsi Masisi remarked at the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) star rally ahead of Saturday’s Kelemogile ward bye election in Ramotswa constituency.

He said Ramotswa just like other areas in the country has benefited from ESP projects and will continue to benefit.

Mr Masisi said already under ESP, Boatle-Gaborone road will be crafted into a dual carriage road while schools in Ramotswa will be refurbished and provided with ablution blocks during the  programmes’s first phase among other projects. Therefore, he encouraged Ramotswa residents to vote for Mr Best Mosadi during the Saturday’s bye election, because he represented a party with reputable track record and it’s governance is envied by many countries.

He called on residents to vote for a candidate who will work with the current government to ensure that Batswana are aware of developments in the area and they do benefit.

He criticised opposition councillors saying they are not promoting government policies and programmes in place which disadvantages thier electorates.

Therefore, he said Mr Mosadi is the best candidate to link the government and the people and added that Mr Mosadi has amassed much experience to serve his people.

In addition,  Mr Masisi said the ruling party has over the past 50 years managed to hold the country together peacefully and earned accolades  as a beacon of democracy.

Hence voting for the party is a sure guarantee that Botswana will continue to enjoy peace and tranquility that prevails in the country.

While on the contrary,  he said the opposition is fragmented and characterised by inner party fightings  which makes them unfit to be trusted to lead the country and its people.

Therefore he encouraged the residents to vote for Mr Mosadi whom he described as an experienced leader and an active community member.

Another speaker,  Mr Lotty Manyapedza said Mr Mosadi comes from a political party which has come up with sound policies and programmes that are envied by many countries.

He said Batswana enjoy free health care,  free education and they  have choice to various economic empowerment programmes.

Therefore he said there is no reason for electorates to vote for opposition parties adding that there is nothing Botswana Congress Party (BCP) candidate can offer to Kelemogile ward residents.

He said all that opposition members are good at is to criticise government policies and programmes without coming up with alternatives.

South east regional chairperson Mr Odirile Motlhale said the party has done its  assignment and will emerge victorious on Saturday.

BDP’s Mr Mosadi will compete for the ward against BCP’s Ms Seitiso Ditlhong.ENDS
